Ballet
Ballet is the foundation for all other dance styles and is absolutely vital to serious dancers training whether their aspirations are classical or musical theatre. Careful study of Ballet technique gives dancers the strength, elegance and flexibility.
Pre-primary and primary classes introduces the concepts of basic movements building co-ordination, poise and balance.
Junior classes use barre and center work to build controlled use of turn out, correct placement and posture. Students are encouraged to be aware of core stability, flexibility and co-ordination, improving technique whilst learning artistic breadth of movement.
Senior classes the work becomes more complex with pointe work concentrating on body alignment, balance and increased stamina, strength, artistry and fluidity of movement are an important part of class with a focus on core stability.
Modern
Modern Theatre dance is a rhythmic dance style which originated in America before travelling to the rest of the world. It is often seen on the stages of musical productions and is known for its theatrical qualities. The style uses travelling steps, high kicks, leaps, and turns which all need strength and flexibility. This is a highly energetic dance style.
Tap
There are several major variations on tap dance including: rhythm (jazz) tap, classical tap, Broadway tap, and post-modern tap. Broadway tap is rooted in English theatrical tradition and often focuses on formations, choreography and generally less complex rhythms; it is widely performed in musical theatre. Our classes aim to develop students rhythm, accent accuracy, style and technique.
Musical Theatre
Focused on developing a love and passion for Musical Theatre whilst boosting self esteem and encouraging teamwork and character building. Students are taught a range of repertoire from stage and screen, breathing techniques for vocal training, acting skills such as articulation, projection and stage direction and etiquette.
Acrobatic Arts
The Acrobatic Arts program is based on safe and effective progression in the five divisions of AcroDance: Flexibility, Strengthening , Balancing , Limbering and Tumbling. Acrobatic Dance is the beautiful fusion of classic dance technique and the precision and athleticism of acrobatic elements.
Lyrical Jazz
The Lyrical dance style has its primary basis in ballet, combining the many technical elements of classical ballet but with the freedom, fluidity, and expressiveness of jazz, contemporary and modern dance. Lyrical dance is expressive, subtle and dynamic, focused on conveying musicality and emotion through movement.
Hip-Hop
This current dancing style represents body movements that go with the beat and rhythm of hip hop music which is popular in our modern culture. Hip-Hop dance is very dynamic and need good coordination and flexibility and encompass a variety of styles from street, Lyrical and R&B.
Under 5’s Program
Groovy Movers
A fun introduction to dance , this class is structured to introduce the child to movement using the natural actions of the body such as running, walking, jumping, hopping, skipping and galloping. It is structured to aid children’s physical development, coordination, memory, spatial awareness, sensory development, creativity and self expression.
